Biography
Pavel Yankovsky was born in Byaroza (Belarus). In 2006, he graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatoire (class of Nikolai Alexeev). From 2004 to 2008, he was a soloist with the St Petersburg Consevatoire’s Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he debuted as Onegin in Eugene Onegin by Tchsikovsky and later has sung the parts of Valentin (Faust), Giorgio Germont (La traviata), Robert (Iolanta) and Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride). At the same time, he was a trainee of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers.Yankovsky honed his singing skills at master-classes of Elena Obraztsova, Vladimir Atlantov, and Mati Palm (2006, 2007), organized by the International Summer Academy in Mikkeli. He has also attended master-classes given by Neil Shicoff, Paolo de Napoli, and Stefano Gibellato. Together with the Mariinsky Opera Company he has toured to Spain, USA, Japan.
From 2010 to 2019 he was a soloist with the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he appeared in more than twenty lead roles. He received the Paradise Award for Best Opera Singer, presented by the Novosibirsk Branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation (for his Robert in Iolanta in 2011 and for Valentin in Faust in 2012).
Since 2018, Yankovsky has regularly appeared at the Mariinsky Theatre as a guest soloist.
From 2019 to 2021 Pavel Yankovsky was a soloist with the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow.

His concert repertoire also includes solo parts in Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death, cantatas Spring and The Bells by Rachmaninov.
Tours
In 2017, he has appeared at the Opernhaus Wuppertal as Rigoletto in new production of Timofei Kulyabin, at the Vlaamse Opera (Venetian Merchant in Sadko) and Theater Luzern (Prince Yeletsky in The Queen of Spades). In 2019, he has sung Tomsky (The Queen of Spades) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Engagements of recent seasons include: Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Shaklovity (Khovanshchina) at the Theater Basel, Figaro and Giorgio Germont at the Opera på Skäret Opera festival in Sweden, Prince Igor at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, to name a few.
In September 2019 he debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre as Eugene Onegin. During the season 20/21 he has also performed the roles of Robert (Iolanta) and Vedenetian merchant (Sadko).
