The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet will collaborate for the fourth year in a row to broadcast 22 hours of behind-the-scenes footage on 5 October. The stream of World Ballet Day LIVE will be shown via Facebook LIVE.

For the first time young opera stars – Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko (Violetta) and American tenor Stephen Costello (Alfredo) - will perform at the Bolshoi. They are engaged in the performances that will be held on 10, 12 and 14 May. On May 9, 11 and 13, Alfredo's role will be performed by a leading soloist of the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet Liparit Avetisyan.

The Bolshoi Theatre presents the performances of the International Opera Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, which is considered to be one of the leading European opera forums. For several evenings, the most significant productions of the recent years will be shown at the Bolshoi - an opera by English composer George Benjamin Written on skin (2012) and Trauernacht, a stage performance of J.S. Bach cantatas (2014). Both performances are staged by the leading British director at work today Katie Mitchell.

The International Forum Mieczyslaw Weinberg (1919-1996). The Return. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the composer will be held on 16 – 19 of February at the Bolshoi Theatre and the Russian State Institute of Art. The program of the forum includes three opera premiers, three concerts of chamber music, a roundtable on different aspects of life and work of an outstanding composer, a scientific conference with musicologists from eight countries and six meetings with people who introduce viewers to the Mieczyslaw Weinberg 's heritage. |
