Under the umbrella of the Year of Italy in Russia and of the international cooperation between Dresden and Moscow, the semi-finals and final of the Competizione dell’opera, the international competition for singers of Italian opera, will take place at the Bolshoi Theatre. It is the first time that this competition, which up to now has always been held in Germany, will take place in Russia.

On March 3 and 5 the Bolshoi is presenting again a triple bill of one-act ballet - masterpieces of the 20th century. The Year of the Russia in France and France in Russia cross-cultural exchange is over, but the mutual interest of these two countries for each other’s art is infinite! Under the aegis of last year’s Russo-French cultural program, the Bolshoi Theatre undertook the role of active organizer of the Paris Opera Ballet Company tour to Novosibirsk. Debuts in Carmen
On 12 January the part of Jose will be sung by the young Brazilian tenor and winner of 2nd prize at the Operalia Competition, Thiago Arancam. The 11-14 January performances of Carmen will be conducted by Maestro Emmanuel Joel-Hornak, an acknowledged interpreter of the French opera repertoire.
