Ана Лагуна

Biography

Was born and educated in Zaragoza, Spain, where she received her primary dance training from Maria de Avila. In 1974 she joined the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm under the direction of Birgit Cullberg and Mats Ek and remained there until 1993 with the exception of a one-year interlude with Nederlands Dans Theater in 1980-81.

Laguna
originated roles in important works by Mats Ek as well as by Jirí Kylián, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin and William Forsythe. She has appeared on practically every major stage in the world and been awarded numerous honors including Premio Nacional de Danza (Spain) and Golden Carina Ari Medal (Sweden). After leaving the Cullberg Ballet in 1993, Laguna worked in drama and dance theatre productions and today teaches and coaches the works of Mats Ek at other dance companies.
