Biography

Enea Scala was born in Ragusa (Italy) and studied at the Bologna Conservatory. In 2006 he made his professional debut in Paolo e Francesca by Mancinelli at Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

Engagements include Count Alberto (L’occasione fa il ladro) for the Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro, Elvino (La sonnambula), Lindoro (L’italiana in Algeri) and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) on tour in Italy, Ernesto (Don Pasquale) and Belfiore (La finta giardiniera) for Glyndebourne on Tour, Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) in São Paulo, Fritz (L’amico Fritz) in Cagliari, Fadinard (Il cappello di paglia di Firenze) in Florence, Belfiore in Lille, Arnoldo Melcthal (Guglielmo Tell) in Turin and Toronto, Ruodi for Bavarian State Opera, Gerardo (Caterina Cornaro) in Montpellier, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Genoa, Arturo (I puritani) in Turin and Fenton (Falstaff) in Marseilles and Trieste.

In 2015 he made his Royal Opera House debut as Ruodi in Rossini`s Guillaume Tell. At the Festival della Valle d`Itria, Martia Franca he sang Egeo in Medea in Corinto. He appared as Arnold and Ruodi in Guillaume Tell at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Rinaldo in Armida at the Opera Vlaandren, Antwerpen, Camille de Rossillon in Die lustige Witwe at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

Among recent engagements: Edgardo in Donizetti`s Lucia di Lammermoor (Royal Opera House of Muscat), Leopold in La juive and Pilade in Ermione (Opera de Lion), Il cavalier Giocondo in La pietra del paragone (Teatro Lirico di Cagliari), Leicester in Maria Stuarda (Opera municipal de Marseille), Pilade in Ermione (Théâtre des Champs Elysées), Rinaldo in Armida (Opera National de Montpellier).
