Biography

Born in Sevastopol, Edvin Revazov completed his dance education at Moscow School and the School of the Hamburg Ballet.

He joined the Hamburg Ballet in 2003 and was promoted to Soloist in 2007. In 2010 he was appointed to Principal.

Together with John Neumeier, he created Graf Alexej Wronski in Anna Karenina, Tadzio in Death in Venice, the title role in Parzival – Episodes and Echo, Apollo in Orpheus, Gate Keeper in Liliom and Eugene Onegin in Tatiana.

His repertory includes Günther and Arabian Dance in The Nutcracker, Romeo and Brother Lorenzo in Romeo and Juliet, the title role in Peer Gynt, The Prince in A Cinderella Story, Albert in Giselle, Wolfgang Amadeus in Windows on MOZART, Semyon Semyonovich Medvedenko in The Seagull, Cassio in Othello, The Angel in The Legend of Joseph, Endymion in Sylvia, Kiefaber and Allan’s Friend in A Streetcar Named Desire, Armand Duval in Lady of the Camellias, The Man in the Shadow and Count Alexander in Illusions – like “Swan Lake”, A Man in Seasons – The Colors of Time, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Serge Diaghilev in Nijinsky, the title role in Hamlet, the title role in The Prodigal Son (George Balanchine), Madge, a Witch in La Sylphide (Pierre Lacotte after Filippo Taglioni), the title role in John Cranko’s Onegin, Man in Purple in Dances at a Gathering (Jerome Robbins), The Man (Vaslaw Nijinsky) in Le Pavillon d’Armide, solos in Purgatorio and Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler.

Furthermore he danced solos in Christmas Oratorio, Saint Matthew Passion, Um Mitternacht, Requiem, Nocturnes from Songs of the Night, Verklungene Feste, Le Sacre, Préludes CV, and Renku (Yuka Oishi/Orkan Dann).

As a choreographer, he has created several works as Rain Memories (2017) for the National Youth Ballet as well as Closed Rooms (2017), Vesna (2016), Anima (2015), Zozula (2012) and Coco Rosie (2011) for the Young Choreographers program.
