Biography
Steen Bjarke has throughout his career been employed by the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, from 1973 to 2001 where he, as light designer, has been in charge of a large number of operas and ballets.And has worked on all the major stages throughout the world.
Parallel with his work for the Royal Theatre, has worked as light designer for international choreographers like Peter Schaufuss, John Neumeyer, Maurice Bejare and Kevin Mckenzie.
Steen Bjarke also started to do the set design for his productions.
His first work with Ried Andersen was the production of Onegin in Copenhagen in 1989 with set design by Jurgen Rose. This production was repeated in Oslo in 1997, and in Helsinki with a new set designed by Elisabeth Dalton and last in November 2001 do Onegin on Covent Garden in London.
Steen Bjarke was in charge of the lighting design for A folktale with set design by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. After which Steen Bjarke receive the Order of Merit.
Steen Bjarke has sends 2001 been freelance designer with connected to the Royal Danish Ballet.
