A Beauty with enameled eyes is back with us again!
In the year of Marius Petipa (March 11 marked the 200th anniversary of his birth) after a four and a half-year nap, Coppelia returned to the repertoire of the Bolshoi Theatre, a true masterpiece brilliantly choreographed by Petipa to the gorgeous music by Leo Delibes. Although the libretto is based on the well-known dark short story by Hoffman, in fact, this ballet is one of the most fun in the entire classical heritage. Unfortunately, the life of Sergei Vikharev – the author of the new version of the Mariinsky theatre production of 1894, which was shown at the Bolshoi in 2009 – was cut short by an unhappy coincidence, so he could not take part in the revival of his performance. The Bolshoi ballet pays tribute to a colleague – a wonderful choreographer, teacher and a true Master. NB! The cast for the first run of the shows (which will be held on the New Stage 20, 21 (beginning at 12 and 19 hours) and 22 April) is announced. 12.01.2018
