Salome by Richard Strauss reveals a number of premieres of the new year on the Historic Bolshoi stage. This joint production with The Metropolitan Opera theatre will first be introduced in Moscow, then in New York. The stage director – well-known operatic director in Europe, Claus Guth – debuts on our stage. At the conductor's stand, we have musical director and chief conductor of the Bolshoi theatre Tugan Sokhiev.

Markus Werba is featured as Marcello at Bolshoi for the first time; Aida Garifullina as Musetta, Andrei Valenty as Colline. Their performances will take place on 12th and 14th February. Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev is going to sing a part of Colline at our theatre for the first time as well. He will perform on 10th, 11th and 13th February.

Due to the increasing volume of creative work and the great number of new projects, the directorship of the Bolshoi Theatre has made the decision to introduce the position of the head of production department. On the 1st of February, appointed to this post is the head of the artistic agency “Ardani”, a famous producer, working - both in Russia and abroad - with the greatest theatres and stars of ballet in the world, Sergei Danilian.

Additional ticket sale is open!
Additional ticket sale is open starting from 21 January 2021 for ballet Nureyev, which will be performed on Historic Stage on 22, 23 and 24 January, and Dido and Aeneas on New Stage on 22 January. This is carried out in accordance with Decree by Moscow Mayor dated 21 January 2021 №3-UM “On Amendments to the Decree of the Mayor of Moscow dated June 8, 2020 №68-UM” stating that from 22 January on, theatre attendance is restricted to 50% based on the total percentage of the seat capacity.
