Biography
Born in Nancy (France), Louis Geisler studied history and literature before entering the Institute of Political Sciences of Aix-en-Provence.In 2011, he joined the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to assist first Bernard Foccroulle, then Pierre Audi. There in 2015 he created an outreach initiative "Opéra On" to help people under 30 discover opera. For the 70th anniversary of the Festival he published an illustrated book "Opera, mirror of the world" (publishing house: Actes Sud) in cooperation with Alain Perroux.
Since January 2019, he is freelance dramaturg and continues to collaborate with the Aix Festival for conferences, articles, videos and podcasts.
Since 2016, he collaborates with stage director Vincent Huguet. They worked together on the productions of To Be or Not to Be (after Shakespeare and Purcell) at Rouen Opera in 2016 and at Paris Philharmonie in 2017, Les Voyages de Don Quichotte (after Strauss, de Falla and Massenet) in 2016 and La Vie Parisienne (Offenbach) in 2017 at Bordeaux Opera, Dido and Eneas at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2018 as well as Die Frau ohne Schatten (Strauss) conducted by Christian Thielemann with Camilla Nylund, Nina Stemme and Evelyn Herlitzius at the Wiener Staatsoper.
