Biography
Andrea Caré completed his musical studies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin. Among the last students who had the privilege to study with Luciano Pavarotti, and a protégé of legendary soprano Raina Kabaivanska, he was the winner of the 2005 Spoleto International Opera Competition.Has appeared in theatres such as the Metropolitan Opera, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Royal Opera House, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Vienna State Opera,
Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hamburg State Opera, Stuttgart State Opera, Gran Théatre de Genève, La Monnaie, Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Finnish National Opera, Rome Opera, La Fenice, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, as well as the Festivals of Torre del Lago, Savonlinna, Montpellier and Hannover.
In 2008 Andrea Caré debuted at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna as Pollione in Norma and was also heard as Giasone in Cherubini’s Medea at the Teatro Regio in Turin and as Alfredo in La Traviata in Ravenna.
In 2009 Caré made his debut at the Teatro Massimo in Medea, returned to Turin as Alfredo in La Traviata and then made his debut with the Rome Opera’s season at the Terme di Caracalla as Don Jose in Carmen. Caré debuted at the Teatro alla Fenice in Janacek’s rarely performed first opera, Sarka.
In 2010 he appeared as Ismaele (Nabucco) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at Savonlinna Opera Festival and at the Teatro Regio in Turin, and as Don Jose at the Teatro Verdi in Padua, Teatro Comunale in Rovigo and Palm Beach Opera.
In 2011 Caré made his debut with the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Don Jose, a role he subsequently sang at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Hamburg State Opera, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Regio San Carlo in Naples. In the same year he made his debut as Samson in Saint-Saëns’s Samson et Dalila at the Nürnberg State Theatre.
In 2012 he appeared at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. Caré debuted at the Grand Theatre de Geneve in as Macduff in Macbeth. Debuted as Gustavo in a new production of Un Ballo in Maschera at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
In 2013 he sang his first performances of Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Stuttgart Opera and later repeat the role for the Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg. Caré also made his debut at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden as Ismaele in the new production of Nabucco. He then made his debut at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste in Carmen.
In 2014 Andrea Caré appeared in the title role of Verdi’s Stiffelio at the Royal Swedish Opera. He made his debut the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona performing the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca. Debuted in Canada as Don Carlo at the Vancouver Opera and as Pinkerton at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto.
In 2015 he appeared at the Royal Opera House in London in Carmen. Then he sang the role of Pollione in two new productions of Norma: one at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the other at the Opéra National de Bordeaux. He sang as well the role of Giasone in a new production of Medea at the Gran Théatre de Genève.
In 2016 Caré made his debut at the NCPA in Beijing in a new production of Gioconda. He sang the title role of Don Carlo in a new production at the Opèra du Rhin in Strasbourg. He made his debut as Osaka in Iris by Mascagni at Festival de Radio France, as Radames in Aida at Tanglewood Festival with the Boston Simphony Orchestra, and as Loris Ipanov in Fedora by Giordano at the Royal Swedish Opera.
In 2017 he sang Steva (Jenufa) at the Royal Swedish Opera, Radames (Aida) at La Monnaie, Pinkerton (Madama Batterfly) and Don Jose (Carmen) at Teatro Real in Madrid. He sang the title role in Don Carlo at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia.
In 2018 Andrea Caré appeared as Don Jose in Carmen at the Royal Opera House, as Cavaradossi in Tosca at Michigan Opera, Teatro Regio in Parma and Finnish National Opera. He sang Radames (Aida) and Rodolfo (La Boheme) at the Royal Swedish Opera and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Vienna State Opera.
In 2019 Andrea Caré sang Enzo (Gioconda) at La Monnaie, Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) at the NDR Klassik Open Air in Hannover, the title role in Don Carlo at Teatro Real in Madrid, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Metropolitan Opera, Don Jose (Carmen) at the Teatro Regio in Turin.
Andrea Caré has collaborated with eminent conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Riccardo Chailly, Gianandrea Noseda, Paulo Arrivabeni, Evelino Pidò, Massimo Zanetti, Roberto Polastri, Marco Zambelli, and with stage directors Luca Ronconi, Pierluigi Pizzi, Erémanno Olmi, Hugo de Ana, Federico Tiezzi, John Pascoe, Henry Akina, Lamberto Puggelli Luca Valentino, Mario De Carlo, Lucio Gabriele Dolcini, Gabris Ferrari.
In 2013 he took part in the production of Don Carlo at the Bolshoi Theatre, singing the title role (conductor Robert Treviño, director Adrian Noble). In 2016 he sang Don Jose in Carmen at the Bolshoi. In 2020, he sang Richard (Un Ballo in Maschera).
