
Biography
Born in the family of musicians Artem Grishaev graduated from Music College of the Moscow Conservatory and from 2006 to 2011 was the student of the Moscow State Conservatory. He is the prize-winner of IV Maria Yudina International Competition (2006, St. Petersburg, 2nd prize), I International Piano Competition “Russian Season” (2005, Yekaterinburg, 3rd prize), VI International Competition for String Instruments (2002, Tolyatti, diploma “The best accompanist»). He has also been given the scholarship of Nikolai Petrov Foundation and twice took part in the annual “Musical Kremlin” International Festival.Since 2009 Artem has been the member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theatre and worked with the such estimated coaches, conductors and teachers as George Darden (Metropolitan Opera), Luba Orfenova, Vladimir Yurowski, Dmitri Yurowski, Anthony Manoli, Antonello Allemandi, Laurent Campellone, Philippe Auguin, Evgeny Nesterenko, Irina Bogacheva, Laura Claycomb, William Stone, Richard Bado, Christopher Moulds, Semyon Skigin, Diane Soviero etc.
His music staff affiliations started with the numerous projects of the Moscow State Philarmonic Society: the concert performances of Gounod`s “Romeo et Juliette”, Bizet`s “Les Pecheurs des Perles”, Offenbach`s “Les Contes d`Hoffmann”, Donizetti`s “Anna Bolena”, Handel`s “Alcina”, Humperdinck`s “Hansel und Gretel”, Mozart`s “The clemency of Titus“, Thomas`s “Hamlet”, Donizetti`s “Roberto Devereux”, R. Strauss’s “Salome” with Vladimir Yurowski and Rossini`s “Tancredi” and “Ermione” assisting Alberto Zedda.
He has accompanied the young artists of the Bolshoi at the Queen Elizabeth International Competition in Brussels, the World Opera Competition “Operalia” in Moscow, International Contest of Italian Opera (“Competizione dell` Opera”) and Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo. In 2011 he joined the Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. In his two seasons with WNO, Artem Grishaev served as Assistant Conductor for “Così fan tutte” and “Don Giovanni” (assisting the music director of WNO Philippe Auguin), “Hansel and Gretel” and for the American Opera Initiative`s first project - “Approaching Ali” by D.J. Sparr. He also took part in the project of Washington National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach (Beethoven`s “Fidelio” concert performance).
In the summer of 2012 he joined San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program for the production of Mozart`s “La finta giardiniera” and Schwabacher Summer Concert.
Since 2013 Artem Grishaev is the member of the music staff of the Bolshoi Theatre – assisting “Don Carlo”, “Der fliegende Holländer”, “Le Nozze di Figaro”, “Cosi fan Tutte”, “L'Enfant et les Sortilèges”, “Rigoletto”, “Queen of Spades”, “The maid of Orleans”, “La damnation de Faust”, “Don Pasquale”, “Rodelinda”, “Billy Budd”, “The Tsar`s bride”, “La Bohème”. He also worked as the coach for the Bolshoi`s Young Artist Program preparing singers individually for operatic and concert performances – among them Song Recital Series in the Beethoven Hall of Bolshoi Theatre with YAP singers (Berlioz`s “Les nuits d’été”, Poulenc’s “Fiançailles pour rire” and Tchaikovsky’s songs recital).
In addition to his on-going work with the Bolshoi he has appeared in vocal recitals with the soloists of the theatre during III International Levitan Festival in Plyos and Sergey Rachmaninoff Festivals in composer`s Museum-estate in Ivanovka.
Among 2015 engagements – assisting Mikhail Yurowsky for the concert performance of “The Tsar`s bride” in Philharmonie de Paris and Jesus Lopez Cobos for La mort de Cléopâtre with Norah Amsellem in Bolshoi Theatre. Also he has collaborated with such conductors as Tugan Sokhiev, Alberto Zedda, Evelino Pido, Benjamin Pionnier, Michal Klauza, Francesko Lanzillotta, Chris Moulds, Stefano Montanari, William Lacey, Federico Maria Sardelli, Marco Zambelli, Giacomo Sagripanti, Laurent Campellone, Ottavio Marino, Dmitry Yurowsky, Philippe Auguin, Vassily Sinaisky, Robert Trevino, Richard Farnes, Gary Wedow.
