Act I

The Temple of Hope is a place where everyone can have a question answered. If there is a phone call or a private appointment, Madame Flora’s family will solve any problem.

«Hello, hello? Do you need help?»

A call, another one...

A young man tries to confess his love to a girl, using all available technical means. However, the flow of those who wants her to read their fortune and solve a problem online has not stopped.

Finally, the young man receives the long-waited «yes!».

Satisfied Madame Flora appears on the threshold of the Temple, having received a reward for her efforts. She is followed by the Gobineau family and Mrs. Nolan, who came for the first time.

A seance begins. Baba summons a spirit of Mrs. Nolan’s dead daughter Doodly. Monica and Toby ensure the vividness of the illusion.

«Mother, mother, are you there?» In Monica’s voice the poor mother recognizes Doodly.

Mr. and Mrs. Gobineau always pay Baba so that they can feel the presence of their son who drowned in the fountain of their garden in Paris. Monica helps Madame Flora again: grief-stricken parents hear the ringing laugh of little Mickey.

Baba suddenly screams. She feels as if cold hands touch her neck. The medium makes the customers leave the Temple. Monica tries to calm her mother, but Madame Flora can’t recover — she hears voices…

Act II

Monica cares for Toby.

They hold a seance themselves without Baba.

Madame Flora appears and tries to get a confession out of Toby that the visions she had at the last seance are the boy’s tricks.

The Gobineaus and Mrs. Nolan stand at the threshold of the Temple of Hope. Madame Flora gives them their money back and confesses that all what she has done has been a hoax. To prove the truth of her mother’s words Monica simulates the voices of the dead children in full view of everyone, but the clients do not believe. They ask to summon spirits again. Baba in her rage gets rid of the unwanted visitors and sends Monica and Toby away.

Madame Flora is weary from such tortuous hallucinations. Trying to conquer her fear, she seeks comfort in wine, drugs, and prayer. Monica realizes that she cannot help her mad mother and tries to leave. Baba grabs a revolver: the cause of her troubles is finished.
