The format of gala concerts by Maitre becomes our good tradition. This time, Plácido Domingo will present to the audience a “team” of opera stars. Many of the participants will perform on our stage for the first time.
Magnificent Aida Garifullina, “one of the most terrific opera divas of the present and future” as maestro presents her himself, is already well familiar to our audience. At the Bolshoi, she performed a role of Volkhova in Sadko, production by Dmitri Chernyakov and – Musetta in La Bohème conducted by maestro Domingo himself.
Oksana Dyka, a sophisticated singer of Verdi’s parts, is well known to our guests as well as Leonora (Il trovatore) and Aida, Elizaveta (Don Carlo) and Desdemona (Otello), as well as Tosca and Turandot in the operas of Puccini with the same name. Her first appearance at the Bolshoi was at the premiere of opera Un ballo in Maschera by Verdi as Amelia.
Winner of the latest “Operalia” (2019) and the youngest participant of the evening is our countryman – Maria Kataeva. Alumni of St. Petersburg conservatory, she is now actively engaged in the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf). She is touring a lot and confidently conquering music Olympus.
One of the leading singers of bel canto tenor, Javier Camarena, will be one of Plácido Domingo’s partner during this concert. He will be singing in Moscow for the first time. Another partner is the world’s renowned bass-baritone Erwin Shrott who made brilliant career and earned reputation of the splendid Don Juan in the opera with the same name by Mozart. With a tremendous success, he performed leading parts in operas of Verdi, Donizetti, Puccini and Bizet.
